Update Your Windows for Spring
Spring is finally upon us and with summer almost here, now is the time to update your windows for the warmer weather and lighter evenings. If your windows are shrouded in your thickest, darkest winter curtains then check out the top tips below for welcoming spring into your home...
Let the outdoors in
Windows are the obvious connection the rooms in your home have with the outside world. Even if you live in a flat or only have a small garden you can still appreciate the light and warmth of spring in your home. The first thing to do is to take down those heavy winter curtains and replace them with some spring window shades. In rooms such as the kitchen, dining room and living room you can go for the lightest and brightest shades to really make the most of the extended sunlight in the evenings. If you're worried about lighter shades letting in UV rays or too much light then choose solar window blinds which have a protective UV resistant backing to reduce the heat and glare from the sun. If you're reluctant to give up your curtains then you could hang some sheer drapes on your windows and fit a roller blind behind these so you can retain privacy without relying on heavy curtains.
Out with the old
If you already have blinds installed but they are looking worse for wear then spring is the best time to update these dated shades with some fresh summer blinds. Blinds in kitchens and bathrooms are particularly susceptible to wear and tear because of the damp conditions so if you have a limited budget for your blinds then it might be wise to invest in new blinds for these rooms. As new blinds are so affordable, don't be tempted to make-do for another year, treat your home and yourself to some stylish new drapes. Roller blinds for example can cost as little as £20 or £30 depending on the material and the size of the window you want to cover.
Textures and fabrics
Summer blinds should be all about warm weather and fun in the sun so let the light in with delicate texture of honeycomb blinds or the smooth surface of roller blinds. Paler shades of wooden blinds such as white or cream can also create a dazzling effect in your home both from the inside and the outside. If you want to keep some of the heat out then solar window blinds such as the Shadeshield range can stop the light coming in but still allow you to see out so you can experience the spring and summer sunshine without the heat.
Updating your windows with spring window shades is a great place to start with your spring cleaning and new shades are sure to look stunning throughout the warmer weather.
