5 Cute & Simple Vase Fillers

There are few things so lovely as a vase full of flowers, whether it’s an expensive bouquet or some cut from the garden. But it’s hard work keeping flowers in the house all year round, especially when you have plenty of vases or jars to fill. We’ve come up for some alternative ideas to keep in your vases, as a long-lasting addition to the flowers we all love so much!

1. Paper flags

Using small wooden rods, some pretty card, and some glue, you can make cute flags that will look adorable placed in a mason jar on the side. Cut your card (or washi tape) into a diamond shape and fold it in half around the top of the rod, gluing the two halves together. Then decorate using pretty calligraphy, ink stamps, or doodles!

2. Ribbon Wands

A floatier, more boho alternative to paper flags, ribbon wands are pretty as a picture. Using wooden sticks or rods, tie strips of ribbon around the tip, opting for two or three different colours and textures. You could even add small bells if you like!

3. Twigs

For a rustic look, consider finding some neat-looking twigs from outdoors and adding them to a simple mason jar. The look will be country chic – plus it’s a great way of getting you and the family out on a country walk!

4. Candles

Don’t be afraid to use a large glass vase as an oversized candle holder. The effect can be beautiful, especially if the minimalist look is your thing. Opt for a pillar candle for the best ambience.

5. Dried flowers

Dried flowers are bang on trend right now and offer a gorgeous country boho chic. Plus, they don’t require any maintenance! You can go for big or small bunches depending on the vases or jars you want to fill, and you could even try your hand at drying your own!
