Blinds can be described as `window within a window` and serve the purpose to cover windows or doors. Usually, they are attached to the inner side of door or window. In simple terms, blinds serve the purpose of blocking the view or simply `blinding` the viewer. Along with the purpose of blocking the view, blinds are also used to block the sunlight and as such the heat during hot seasons and are extremely useful devices because they are economical and easy to use.
Blinds come in numerous types and can be made up of many kinds of materials. The materials usually used for blinds are light metal and vinyl etc.
Blinds can also be fabricated from cloth and wood. Most commonly used blinds are the slat blinds, which consist of flat and horizontal slates. These slats are interconnected through threads, which can cause the blinds to rotate, or pulled up and down. The ensuing movement causes the desired effects like decreasing sunlight or totally blocking the view.

Hardly can there be a building, home or office that will not be having blinds in their windows.
