Tips

Keeping your home up-to-date and interesting shouldn’t be a mammoth task that takes up all your time and money. It should be a fun and exciting task that you can achieve easily, without spending a fortune or investing every weekend into it. After all, home décor should be something we enjoy, not dread!
Many of us leave the master bedroom as our last priority, for the simple reason that guests rarely see it. But we deserve a little luxury for our own sakes, don’t we? It doesn’t take much to style and accessorise a bedroom if it’s already in good condition. And we owe it to ourselves to make the effort. Here’s how:
- Upgrade the bedding. This is simple, yet effective. A double bed is a large item and can really make all the difference to the rest of the room! Investing in a couple of new sets of bedding means changing a large chunk of colour or pattern in the room and, as it will take you a while to get used to it, you’ll be invigorated by the new look every time you enter.
- Change the curtains. Swapping out a heavy pair of curtains for some light cotton ones or a minimalist roller blind can give a room a new and airy feel. Likewise, the opposite can increase feelings of cosiness. Whatever you have, replace it with its direct opposite and watch the whole look and feel of the room change.
- Move the furniture. This one is both free and easy! Rotating furniture and swapping it around can give you a brand new bedroom. You can even increase the fun by measuring up and making a floor plan first, ensuring that your plans will actually fit the room. You might even be inspired to have a bit of a sort out while you’re at it!
- Make over some furniture. If you have a particular piece of furniture that you’re not that keen on or have been considering replacing, now’s the time to give it a bit of a makeover. Try painting a wardrobe or simply changing the handles on a chest of drawers. You’ll notice it every time you walk into the room and will have such a sense of pride!
