When you want to be able to make the most of your home in the new year, there’s one thing you need to do first and foremost: declutter!
With so much to do, and seemingly so little time, we thought we’d put together a few tips that will get things moving in the right direction.
If you go all-in and decide to try and tackle the spare room, you’re probably going to put it off and only do half a job. What you should focus on instead is getting rid of those little piles of clutter in the living room. That way you’ll be able to see just what a difference a bit of decluttering makes!
So many of us keep piles of old junk mail, magazines, and catalogues that it’s a wonder we have any space left at all! If you want to be able to quickly and efficiently clear away a few piles of clutter, then recycle anything you haven’t read in the last couple of months, and ignore the urge to save it just incase you need it.
If you always end up with piles of stuff on the coffee table and the dining table, then this is life’s way of telling you that you need to be a little bit more organised. Clear out a couple of drawers, get a few storage tubs, and generally just tidy things away out of sight. That way you’ll be able to enjoy your space, and feel a little bit more relaxed in it at the same time.
Now don’t get this wrong, we’re not talking about throwing out all of your partner’s annoying piles of stuff. But why not recycle the bits that are obviously no use, and tidy the rest away into a couple of boxes? If they’ve been lying there unused for months, the chances are they won’t notice anyway. Ask if it’s okay if you move things around however, and you’ll get much less done.
