Inspiration

Posted 10/02/2022

Each season new Interior trends are announced, and it is often difficult to pick out which ones are likely to stick around and are worth investing and which will be more here today, gone tomorrow. Looking ahead to 2022 the trends that we are seeing in Interiors are reflective of the mood of people who are looking forward to brighter times after a couple of years of uncertainty. It is time to embrace bold, brave design that sparks joy and makes us smile. Of course, when following trends it is important to remember a couple of golden rules; only buy what you need, what you planned to buy, AND don’t be drawn into a trend that doesn’t suit your style or home.

Bold colour.

Bold colour is making a splash from high-end investment pieces to fun high street accessories. Colour block paint effects are becoming increasingly popular, and the move towards bright, colour clash is a sign of our desire to have more fun with our design choices.

Very Peri, the Pantone colour of the year, is both bold and contemporary and works well with lots of different schemes. If you have a white room and are not quite ready to paint your room in colour clashing arches then look to experimenting with bold and colourful cushions, rugs, or blinds.

Patterns.

This trend exists every season, but just in styles. We have seen lots of florals and botanicals over the last few years and whilst these patterns are not going anywhere there are some new patterns in town. From stripes to checks, waves to arches – the shapes are striking and will add a real wow factor to your home.

A stripe is a good starting point with this trend, and there are many ways to incorporate them. I am a big fan of this pattern in a Roman blind that can work in so many schemes.

Green & Lush Backdrops.

Getting back to nature and all of its wellness properties is a big theme for 2022. Bring the outside in, incorporating more green and growing and nurturing plants. Biophillic design refers to incorporating plants into your homes and workplaces and is understood to positively impact your mental and physical wellbeing.

There is a plant for everyone, from those that require minimum effort to those which need daily attention, so do some research. There are some beautiful plant pots and stands available, that will look stylish on a shelf, in a window or popped onto a coffee table along with your usual scented candle and stack of Interior mags.

If plants are really not your vibe, then how about incorporating more green or botanical prints throughout your home? There are some fab wallpapers available with bold jungle prints that could really transform your home. Green blinds and curtains work really well to bring the outside in and draw your eye to the great outdoors.

Reuse, Reduce, Recycle!

There is a continuing effort to encourage us to buy less, shop vintage and do our bit to be more mindful and conscious consumers as we consider our planet and our impact on it. Ask yourself – do I need new? Could I buy this second hand? What can I do with the items I no longer want or need rather than send them to the tip?

Consider your purchases carefully, plan your homes using a mood board and make sure you opt for décor that can be adapted in the future without the least amount of waste possible.

Our Wooden Venetian blinds sourced from sustainable forests are a great option for the eco-minded consumer and will transform your window and fit well into any scheme.

The Great Outdoors.

Outside spaces became our saving grace, our social settings, and worked super hard for us over the last couple of years. This trend continues where our gardens are given as much design attention as our homes. There are almost as many products available for your garden and outside spaces as there are for inside your home. If your outside space is small, make sure you add lights to increase the perception of space.

Candles, fairy lights, cushions borrowed from inside and even rugs are all ways to ensure your outside space is on trend this year. Don’t forget your view of the outside space from inside your home – clean your windows and frame the view with stylish blinds and curtains. A roller blind will allow you to maximise on the space by being drawn all the way up, or how about some super stylish plantation shutters that will look beautiful day and night and from inside or out?

Curves And Layering.

Curves in all the right places. You may have seen the increasing number of curves in Interior magazines — everything from sofas to fabrics has been softened with curves. Cocooning furniture that hugs you, along with wavy trims and edges to home accessories. The soft wave of a pair of curtains hung in front of your roller blinds will not only nod to this trend, but also elevate your window to something special and inspired.

Voile roller blinds also give your a great option for rooms where natural light is a precious commodity. Double roller blinds improve on this by providing both screen and privacy layers; perfect for the modern home-owner.  Our voiles work great when layering in front of roman, roller or venetian blinds.
