Full Height Shutters
Like the shutter look from top to bottom? Full-height shutters cover the whole window, bringing neat panels and adjustable slats to bedrooms, living rooms and anywhere you want more coverage.
Tilt the slats to soften direct sunlight or give yourself a little privacy, then swing the panels open when you want to uncover the window. Each panel opens as one full-height section, keeping the arrangement simple.
Our made-to-measure full-height shutters come in a range of colours and real or faux wood options. Choose a finish that works with your room, and explore selected Twist\&Fit designs if you’d prefer no-drill fitting in a suitable recess. When should you choose full-height shutters?
Full-height shutters are useful when privacy matters across the entire window, including upstairs rooms where neighbours may get an accidental peek inside. Think about the whole view into your room, not just what happens at pavement level.
With the panels on full-height shutters closed, you can tilt the slats to change the light rather than opening the whole shutter every time. In a living room, that can mean softening afternoon glare while keeping some daylight. In a bedroom, close the slats for more privacy and reduced light.
Shutters aren’t completely blackout, so add blackout curtains if you want another layer of darkness. Check that the curtain position leaves space for the panels to open.
Full-height, cafe-style or tier-on-tier?
Full-height shutters give you coverage across the window, with each panel opening as one section. It suits a straightforward arrangement where you’re happy to use the slats for everyday adjustments.
Cafe-style shutters leave the top uncovered. They work well when you mainly need privacy lower down, but won’t screen an overlooking window above.
Tier-on-tier shutters also cover the full opening, with separately opening upper and lower panels. Choose them if you want the top completely open while the bottom stays closed. Full height refers to coverage; tier-on-tier adds a different way to operate the panels.
Plan the fit and finish of your full-height shutters
Take a look around the window before deciding on your panel arrangement. Furniture, handles and nearby walls can affect the space available when you open the shutters. Follow the product's measuring guidance rather than guessing from the window size alone.
For tall windows, check the specification for any required mid-rail. Full-height panels aren’t necessarily one uninterrupted run of slats, so review the final configuration before ordering.
Then you can have some fun with the finish. White keeps the look understated, darker colours frame the window more strongly, and wood finishes can complement existing furniture. For humid rooms, choose a suitable faux wood option. Our measuring guide helps you take the next step once the choices are made.
