Recess and Exact Fitting:
Recess fit refers to a blind which will sit inside your window recess.
A window recess is the inset area in your wall that your window sits within. Fitting your blind inside the recess can maximise space and offers more of a contemporary look
With a recess fit we will make small adjustments to your measurements to enable the blind to fit that space, so it is important to give us precise measurements.
Exact fit generally refers to a blind which will sit on the outside of a window recess or directly on to the wall.
If there is no recess, then you'll be measuring blinds to fit straight onto the wall. Fitting outside the recess, straight on to the wall, provides more of a traditional look.
With an exact fit we will not make any adjustments to the measurements that you provide.

Measuring Blinds for a Recess Fitting:

Inside Mounted Blinds
Width: Measure across the top, middle and bottom of the window recess in order to identify any variations. Use the smallest measurement of the three when ordering your blind to make sure it fits perfectly.
Drop: Follow the same approach, taking measurements at three different points along the window recess (left, middle and right) and provide us with the shortest one as this is where the blind will drop to.
Note: If you have tiles at the bottom of the recess - measure between the tiles and just give us this measurement as the blind will need to sit between the tiles.
Note: With a recess fitting we make small adjustments to enable the blind to fit that space. If you wish to make your own allowances instead, please select exact fitting and not recess.
Note: With Roller, Day Night, Vista or Harmony blinds only, the fabric width is slightly narrower than the overall blind so please take the width measurement across the top of the window to ensure the best fit.

Measuring Blinds for an Exact Fitting:

Outside/Wall Mounted Blinds
Width: Simply measure the width of your window where you want the blind to sit, allowing for any overlap that you desire. We suggest adding an extra 120mm to the overall measurement, so that there’s 60mm overlap on either side.
Drop: Measure from the top of where it will be fitted to where you want the blind to drop to. We suggest adding 60mm to the top and bottom (120mm total) so there is some overlap on the length. Ideally the blind should not obscure the window when it is raised.
Note: We recommend taking your width and drop measurements in 3 different places, as windows are not always perfectly square, and provide the largest measurement to ensure the best fit.
Note: For Roller, Day Night, Vista or Harmony blinds only, the fabric width is 35-40mm narrower than the overall blind so you may wish to measure wider to allow the fabric to cover more of the window.

Additional information when measuring for Roller, Day Night, Vista or Harmony blinds:
When measuring for these blind types with a recess fitting, please take the width measurement across the top of the window to ensure the best fit.
Please note, whether you order recess or exact fitting, the fabric width will always be 35-40mm narrower than the overall size. This is to allow for any control component on the side. We will always take the provided width and manufacture this as the full blind width (not fabric width).
If you are ordering a roller blind to fit inside a recess and wish to side mount the brackets, please provide the measurement across the top of the window and select exact instead of recess (Day Night, Vista and Harmony blinds cannot be side mounted).
