At 247 Blinds, we meet all health and safety regulations for all our products. In fact, it’s our top priority. All our blinds have a safety mechanism to help minimise risks, and all cords have a maximum length of just one metre. Of course, health and safety around blinds doesn’t have to end with us – there’s plenty you can do to keep your kids safe too. Here are our top tips for maintaining blinds safety in your home at all times:

1. Ensure that any blind you buy, wherever it’s from, has a safety device to help reduce the risk to your family’s health and safety. If this isn’t listed as a feature, don’t buy it. And when you do buy your blind with its safety device, be sure to use it – it’s there for a reason.

2. Keep blind cords out of reach of babies, children, and other vulnerable people, to help avoid accidents. Small children should not be able to reach the cord or climb up onto the windowsill and reach it from there. So ensure that all furniture that could be climbed onto, such as sofas, chairs, etc, are moved away from the window.

3. Never tie blind cords together or allow them to twist and create a loop. Doing so increases the risks to your family. Cords should be left straight and undisturbed.

4. Always install blinds correctly and according to the instructions provided. Ensure the blind fits properly – correct measurements must be given at the time of ordering. Also, be sure that any safety devices you are provided with are fitted correctly.
