The problem is that before you know it this once spotless working area has become a cross between a spare room and a junk room. Decide What You Want the Room to be

This is pretty straightforward but you’d be amazed at how many people skip it and then get nowhere with the resulting tidying spree. If you want to use it as a home office then go for it, if you want it to be more of reading room then that’s great to; but you need to make the call before going much further.

Once you know what you want to use your study for it’ll become a lot easier to lay it out exactly to your liking.

Tidy Your Desk

If you’ve started piling everything from junk mail to Amazon packages on your desk then it’s no wonder that you can’t seem to get anything done in your study! Strip the desk bare and you’ll be amazed at what a difference this makes to the rest of the room. Add a desk lamp, organiser, and notepad and you should be good to go.

Straighten Up That Bookcase

Giving your bookcase a little TLC is all about neatening things up so that your prized books look that little bit better when you walk into the room. Not only will this make it easy to grab the particular volume that you want, it’ll also set the tone for the rest of the room.

Add Some Comfy Seating

Whether you want a plush leather roller chair, a couch in the corner, or both, the choice is yours. By investing in some comfortable seating you’re much more likely to be able to sit and concentrate for a prolonged period of time.

Get the Light Right

A warm white light bulb and a pair of adjustable blinds are the perfect way to bring plenty of vibrant light into your study. Remember, light keeps you awake, keeps you focused, and keeps you on task. No one likes to work in a dark room so make sure you never have to strain your eyes when you’re working by getting your light just right.
