Fly screens are retractable mesh screens designed to help keep flies, bugs, and insects out while still letting fresh air and natural light into your room. They sit neatly inside your window recess and can be pulled down when needed.

They work in a similar way to a spring-loaded roller blind. The mesh screen is housed inside a top cassette and pulls down between two side channels. When not in use, the screen retracts neatly back into the cassette.

No. The fine mesh is designed to act as a barrier to insects while still allowing daylight and airflow through your open window. It may slightly soften the view, but it will not fully block light or ventilation.

Yes. Our fly screens are made to measure for a neat fit inside your window recess. Simply measure the width and drop of your recess in three places and use the smallest measurements when ordering.

Fly screens are designed for inside recess fitting. They are ideal for windows where you want to leave the window open for fresh air while helping to keep insects outside.

You will need an unobstructed recess depth of at least 38mm or 48mm, depending on the finished size of your fly screen. Please make sure the recess is clear of handles, tiles, rails, or other obstructions before ordering.

Not always. Fly screens are not suitable for part-tiled recesses, recesses with picture rails, or windows with obstructions that stop the frame sitting flat and square inside the recess.

Pull the screen down using the handles on the bottom bar or the removable pull cord. Once the bottom bar reaches the bottom of the recess, twist the locks at the base of the side channels to hold the screen in place. To open it again, release the locks and guide the screen back up carefully.

This is normal. Fly screens are spring-loaded, so they are designed to retract upwards when released. To keep the screen closed, make sure the bottom locks are fully engaged before letting go of the bottom bar.

If the screen feels loose or does not retract smoothly, the spring may need re-tensioning. Fully lower the screen, release it from the locks, then guide it back into the cassette. If extra tension is needed, carefully remove the cassette, turn the spring-loaded end in the tightening direction a small amount, then refit and test. Always adjust in small turns to avoid over-tensioning.

You can choose from grey or charcoal mesh, with a white or anthracite frame. This makes it easy to match your fly screen to your window frame and room style.

Use a soft brush or vacuum with a brush attachment to gently remove dust from the mesh and side channels. Avoid harsh chemicals, scrubbing, or pulling on the mesh, as this could damage the screen.
