Slat Width

The slat is the horizontal strip that your blind is made with and can be tilt open/closed or raise/lowered within the window.

The size of slat is an entirely personal preference but as a general guide you should want to try match the size of slat with the size of your window:

25mm slats - ideal for smaller windows.
35mm slats - ideal for medium windows.
50mm slats - the most popular choice. This contemporary finish is ideal for medium to large windows as it allows more light to be filtered through into the room when the blind is down and in the open position.

Larger slat sizes mean that your blind will be comprised of fewer slats and it may be easier to see through the window and allow more light through when the slats are tilted open (compared to that of a smaller slat size).

Recess/Exact

Recess fit refers to a blind which will sit inside your window recess.

A window recess is the inset area in your wall that your window sits within. Fitting your blind inside the recess can maximise space and is more of a contemporary look

With a recess fit we will make small adjustments to your measurements to enable the blind to fit that space, so it is important to give us precise measurements.

Exact fit generally refers to a blind which will sit either on the outside of a window recess or directly on to the wall.

If there is no recess, then you'll be measuring blinds to fit straight onto the wall. Fitting outside the recess, straight on to the wall, provides more of a traditional look.

With an exact fit we will not make any adjustments to the measurements that you provide.

Control Position

This is an entirely personal preference but generally you should choose the side that is easiest to reach or will cause the least obstruction. Still unsure? As a general rule right-handed customers select right and left-handed customers select left.

You can choose to have both the Raise/Lower Cord and Tilt Cords on the same side or on opposite sides*:

Raise/Lower on Right, Tilt on Right
Raise/Lower on Left, Tilt on Left
Raise/Lower on Right, Tilt on Left
Raise/Lower on Left, Tilt on Right

*Please note that depending on the size of blind been ordered, not all control position options may be available.

All our blinds are manufactured to be child safe so a control cord retaining device is sent out with the blinds to be fixed to the wall corresponding to the chosen control side.
