Each Shutter panel has a central tilt rod to adjust the slats—ideal for a classic look. For a cleaner view, a hidden rod is available (at a small extra cost), positioned near the hinged side and partly concealed by the panel edge. Both styles let you open the panels doors inward and tilt the slats. If using the centre rod, avoid pulling it to open the panels, instead use the frame edges to prevent damage.
Some panel configurations aren't available due to the weight of the shutter doors. For large windows or doors, options like all panels on one side may not be possible, as this would place too much strain on the frame.
We automatically deduct 3mm from your entered sizes, so you don't have to worry here. If you need more information, please contact our friendly customer service team!
If your window has a sill, an L-frame is usually best, as it can sit further back in the recess. If the sill overhangs and you prefer a Z-frame, we recommend choosing a full-height shutter with a sill bar and an all-around frame. This setup uses a flat bottom bar to prevent the frame from clashing with the sill. For Twist&Fit Shutters, the only available option is an L-Frame, with no sill bar.
A mid-rail separates the louvres on a single shutter panel, letting you tilt the top and bottom sections independently. Its height ranges from 75mm to 110mm, depending on the overall shutter size. You can request a preferred position, but it may be adjusted slightly based on louvre and panel dimensions. A mid-rail is required for shutters over a height of 160cm.
A T-Bar is a vertical support used in tier-on-tier shutters, typically when the overall width exceeds 1500mm. Shaped like a "T", it sits between the panels, helping align and support the shutter doors.
Shutters work well with any square or rectangular opening. For Twist&Fit Shutters, your window recess must be made of plasterboard or a softwood like MDF/composite—as long as it's not too brittle. Harder surfaces, such as ceramtic tiling, are not suitable.
Twist&Fit Plantation Shutters are identical to our standard shutters but use a drill-free fitting method. They anchor in place with a pin, making installation cleaner and quicker than traditional drilling.
Twist&Fit Shutters are installed inside the window recess using an L-frame. They require pins to twist into the wall, so the surface must be soft—like plasterboard. Metal, ceramic, brick, or concrete are not suitable.
Other than Twist&Fit requiring no drills to install, Twist&Fit Shutters are limited to an L Frame style and are only available as a Full Height or Tier on Tier option. Otherwise, the finished look and specification is exactly the same as our standard Shutters.
