Full Height

Designed to cover the whole of your windows from top to bottom, each panel is opened in one piece. This is the most popular style in the UK, Full Height shutters create a traditional, classic look, whilst contemporary colours and materials help give it a modern finish.

Tier on Tier

Designed as two independent sections (top and bottom), giving you the flexibility to open either the top or the bottom of the shutter separately.

We simply ask for your divide height to determine where you require the split. This style is useful if you have a transom in the window, and gives you more control over the panels, thus allowing more options for light and privacy control.

All Tier on Tier shutters are supplied with a horizontal T-Bar over certain widths for extra durability.

Café Style

Designed to cover the lower section only of your windows, this style adds privacy to the bottom half of your windows whilst leaving the top unobscured, allowing plenty of natural light into your space.

Louvre Width ?

Louvres are the horizontal, elliptical-shaped strips, that you can tilt open or closed. These sit central within the shutter door panels.

You can angle the louvres to maintain privacy while still allowing light and air to enter, making them especially useful for street-facing windows.

The size of louvre is an entirely personal preference, but as a general guide you should want to try to match the size of slat with the size of your window:

64mm slats - Ideal for any size window and is the most popular choice.
76mm slats - Suitable for medium to large windows.
89mm slats - Great for large windows, as these can appear more proportional.

Larger louvres allow more light to enter a room when open. They provide greater control over how much natural light you let in, and facilitate better air circulation because the gaps between them are wider.

Tilt Rod ?

Standard

The standard option is a tilt rod that is placed in the middle of each panel that you can shift up and down to tilt the slats in to the position you want.

The standard is a more traditional option, seen on most modern shutter models, and is the popular option of the two.

Please be aware that you should never open the panel door using the tilt rod, this is for opening and shutting the slats only, and is not designed to support the pressure from opening the doors.

Hidden

With a discrete tilt mechanism located behind the shutter door, the slats are manually tilted by hand in to the position you want. The hidden option is a more contemporary option.

This is normally a metal rod, around 38mm from the edge of the back of the panel, near the hinged side. This is then applied directly to the slats, the idea being to provide a 'clearer' view through the slats.

Divide Height ?

The divide height is the height at which point you wish to split your tier on tier shutter in half.

Just measure from your window sill up to the centre of where you wish to split the tiers and provide this measurement as the divide height.

A T-post will be provided by default on widths over 1500mm*. This post simply slots into the frame when installing. For shutters under a 1500mm width, we instead use simple door stoppers.

Frame Style ?

Shutter frames are designed to surround and support the shutter panels in your window. It acts as a mounting base for the shutters, ensuring they are securely attached and can function properly.

The frame also plays a key role in aligning the shutters with the window and maintaining stability over time, and also helps prevent the shutter panels from shifting or warping over time.

L Frame

L Frames are typically used for inside recess installations, where the frame fits neatly within the window recess. You are able to move the frame to where you want to install within the recess opening. This style provides a minimalist, clean look, and you can choose to screw face fix or side fix as we've shown in our example.

Select L frame if your window is less than 15mm out of square. Please note that gaps between the frame and the wall may require caulking.

Z Frame

Z Frames have a Z-shaped profile, and are made for fitting your shutter on the edge of your window recess, where the extra trim extends to the outside of the recess, flush against your wall. This creates a neat finish, with the blind appearing to meld into the wall, and this style will also cover any caulking and gaps, helping to reduce light leakage.

For windows with a sill, please ensure you select Z Frame with a Sill bar. In this instance, we'll use an L Frame on the bottom to account for the sill.

If your window is more than 15mm out of square, this is the frame for you.

All Round

This style refers to a shutter frame that fully encloses the window on all four sides (top, bottom, and both sides), forming a complete border around the window opening.

This type of frame is used to provide maximum stability, support, and a clean, finished look for the shutters. It’s typically used for both inside and outside recess installations, depending on the style and type of window.

If you want a Z frame, and you have a window sill, instead select the option with a sill bar.

All Round With Sill Bar

This is the option to select if you have a protruding window sill on the bottom, and want to fit a Z frame. The sill bottom bar uses an L frame instead of a Z frame, to ensure your sill and the frame doesn't clash.

Mid Rail ?

Available on Full Height shutter styles, mid-rails add strength to your shutters and allow you to operate the top slats (louvres/blades), independently of the bottom slats. Note that this is different to a Tier on Tier shutter, where the panels on that type are also fully independent.

Measure from the bottom of where the shutter will sit up to the centre of where you want the mid-rail to be and provide this as the measurement.

The position and size of the mid-rail may be altered slightly depending on louvre and shutter sizes. The size of the mid-rail can vary from 75mm to 110mm.
