But what can you do to make them over rather than replacing them? Well, there are quite a few options that can give them a drastic whole new look or a subtle enhancement:

1. Paint

Painting your dining chairs is a great way of making them look completely different quite quickly. It’s a versatile option, as your paint colour options are limitless. You can opt for special furniture paint, or go for chalk paint, which is bang on trend right now.

2. Cushions

Updating your chairs could be as simple as adding a cushion or a pad. These tend to be fairly inexpensive and you can choose specially designed pads that attach to the rungs or simply standard cushions. This will always add a feeling of cosiness to chairs.

3. Refinishing

If your chairs are made from pure wood, you might be able to sand them down and refinish them. There are plenty of waxes and varnishes on the market these days, so you can choose the colour and texture of your new finish with ease.

4. Twine

For a creative, cheap, and easy way to update your chairs, you could use thick twine to wrap around the backs or the rungs. The look is rustic and unique and the chairs will look completely different! You may need some specialist glue to seal them properly.

5. Fabric

Depending on the style of your chair, wrapping some pretty fabric around the back or even the seat could work wonders. You’ll need to be handy with a needle and thread or a glue-gun, but apart from that, the possibilities are endless!
